Project Overview

MedCore is a modern hospital management system designed to simplify and centralize healthcare operations across clinics, hospitals, and medical centers. The platform provides healthcare staff with a unified dashboard to manage patients, doctors, appointments, laboratory tests, pharmacy inventory, and billing processes efficiently.

The system functions as both an administrative management platform and a clinical workflow tool, enabling hospitals to digitize patient records, streamline appointment scheduling, monitor bed availability, and manage financial transactions in real time.

Built with a scalable web architecture, MedCore ensures fast access to patient information, secure data handling, and seamless coordination between departments such as reception, pharmacy, laboratory, and administration.

Key Features

Patient Management

A centralized system for registering and managing patient records, including personal information, visit history, diagnosis details, and treatment notes. Medical staff can quickly access patient profiles and track healthcare activities across departments.

Doctor & Staff Management

Maintain a structured database of doctors and hospital staff with department assignments, schedules, and roles. Administrators can efficiently manage healthcare teams and ensure proper resource allocation.

Appointment Scheduling

A flexible appointment booking system that allows staff to schedule consultations, manage doctor availability, and track daily appointments. The platform ensures smooth coordination between patients and healthcare providers.

OPD & IPD Management

Handle both Outpatient Department (OPD) visits and Inpatient Department (IPD) admissions. Staff can monitor admitted patients, manage bed availability, and track hospitalization details in real time.

Laboratory & Diagnostic Tests

The laboratory module enables staff to request medical tests, record results, and generate diagnostic reports for patients. These reports can be easily accessed within patient records for clinical reference.

Pharmacy & Medicine Inventory

Manage medicine stock, prescriptions, and pharmacy operations within the hospital. The system tracks inventory levels, medicine expiry dates, and prescription history to ensure safe and efficient medication management.

Billing & Payments

A comprehensive billing module allows hospitals to generate invoices for consultations, laboratory tests, hospital stays, and pharmacy purchases. Payment tracking ensures accurate financial records and minimizes administrative workload.

Analytics & Hospital Dashboard

The main dashboard provides real-time insights including total patients, appointments for the day, admitted patients, bed availability, daily revenue, and pending bills. These analytics help hospital administrators monitor operational performance.

Technical Highlights

MedCore is built using Next.js and React.js, delivering a fast and responsive interface optimized for both administrative staff and medical professionals. The system features a clean dashboard layout powered by Tailwind CSS, ensuring a professional and user-friendly healthcare UI.

The backend infrastructure utilizes PostgreSQL with Prisma ORM for structured medical data management, including patient records, appointments, and billing transactions. Redis caching improves performance by enabling fast data retrieval and real-time dashboard updates.

The application architecture supports secure healthcare data handling, scalable hospital workflows, and modular expansion for additional medical services, making it suitable for small clinics as well as large healthcare facilities.
